Interior designer lists historic Kerikeri homestead beside Te Waimate Mission

Interior designer Patrick Crawshaw is no stranger to renovating – three years ago he completely restored the former harbourmaster’s cottage on the hill in Russell, being just the third owner of the house built in 1923.

More recently, he bought another historic property, a Historic Places Category 2-listed former farmhouse in Te Ahu Ahu Road, Kerikeri, which he has now listed for sale, privately.

This time, the renovation was already underway when he moved in a year ago. But Crawshaw says he spent a lot of time and effort setting up the two-storey villa to be a boutique hotel, continuing the work started by the interior designer of the renowned Donkey Bay resort and Duke of Marlborough Hotel in Northland.

However, new job offers and another restoration project are pulling Crawshaw away, hence the sale of the house, which is on land that was formerly part of the old Te Waimate Mission station.
