Top 100 real estate projects in Mumbai witnessed sales worth Rs 25,000 crore in CY 2020: Report

As many as 100 real estate projects in Mumbai contributed to over Rs 25,000 crore in property sales in Mumbai (MMR) for the calendar year 2020. Majority of the top projects are from Lower Parel, Worli, with sales of more than Rs 9,000 crore, a report by Zapkey.com has said.

Some of the top projects in Worli, according to the report were, Raheja Artesia, Indiabulls Blu, One Avighna Park, Lodha World Towers, Piramal Mahalaxmi, Oberoi 360 West, Lodha The Park, among others, the report said, adding over 1,200 units were registered in the area.

Projects in Thane contributed to close to Rs 4,000 crore in sales with almost 4,000 units registered. Top-selling projects in the area were One Hiranandani Park, Lodha Amara, Lodha Crown, Courtyard, the report said.

Owning a home of any kind in Kelowna is now out of reach for most people, according to a housing assessment conducted by the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO).

In the assessment, the RDCO states the median income for couples in Kelowna, said to be $82,000 annually as of 2015, cannot help them afford to buy a townhouse or single-detached house without spending more than 30 per cent of their income on their mortgage.

It’s even worse for single-parent or single-person households as the report found there are no affordable home options for purchase based on the average price, including condos.

“The community is growing rapidly, and housing affordability is a challenge for people across the board,” said James Moore, City of Kelowna’s policy planning manager.

“I don’t think, as this assessment paints, that’s going to change anytime soon.“

“Our report details the very troubling and apparently widespread discriminatory practices that occurred on Long Island, and undoubtedly in other parts of the state, along with our recommendations on what must be done to replace New York’s patchwork, inadequate approach to this problem with a comprehensive statewide strategy,” Senator Brian Kavanagh, the chair of the housing, construction and community development committee, and one of the report’s authors, said in a statement.

Perthshire care home slammed for its lack of Covid infection control in inspectors report

A CARE home in Perthshire where 19 residents tested positive for Covid has been slammed by inspectors for its “serious lack of infection control”.

Glenhelenbank Residential Home in Luncarty had a visit from inspectors on December 12 which highlighted problems with their handling of the virus.

The visit revealed that the staff didn’t always wear PPE even though there was plenty of supply. 

A Care Inspectorate report had also highlighted the “serious concerns with infection prevention and control measures in place.”

The home only scored one out of 10 for its services in the report which is deemed unsatisfactory.

The report states: “This was a focused inspection to evaluate how well people were being supported during the Covid-19 pandemic.
